Hm I just killed him before I even entered the shrine by using the starting weapon. He is actually predictable.
The dude is easy once you realize he has nothing poise. R1 spam him, coil away with your last scrap of stamina, recover stamina, echo until death. Longsword, bandit knife, mail-breaker, scimitars, estoc, all starting class weapons quick enough to do it. Brigand knife (two-hand it) in item is block because you lot'll proc the bleed.
Only don't do it when he'due south in weapon-art stance, because he'll parry your ass.
